30th annual conference of Bangladesh Society of Microbiologists (BSM) was held on 29th April 2017. Thousands of Microbiologists all around Bangladesh are member of such a prestigious society, who are involved in various Industries, Universities, Governmental institutes and Medical sectors. Theme of this year’s conference was Microbiology Education and Research for Sustainable Development. Professor Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique, Vice Chancellor, University of Dhaka, was Chief Guest of the conference. Professor Dr. M Imdadul Hoque , Dean, Faculty of Biological Science, University of Dhaka was Special Guest and Mr. SM Saifur Rahman, Managing Director, Active Fine Chemicals Limited was guest of Honor.

Dr. Suvamoy Datta, Head, Department of Microbiology attended at the 30th annual conference of Bangladesh Society of Microbiologists (BSM) along with his research group. Around 50 Submitted research in field of Medical (Health sector) Microbiology were observed by the jury board members to select top research of the conference. Dr. Suvamoy Datta, Head, Department of Microbiology, achieved the rare opportunity to be one of the 3 members of jury board, other two being prominent Professors in field of Medical Microbiology, from two renowned Universities of Bangladesh. It is a matter of great pride for members of Microbiology Department of Primeasia University, for having Dr. Suvamoy Datta fulfilling such a significant role among the members of Bangladesh society of Microbiologist (BSM).

The AFOB Regional Symposium (ARS) is an annual event of the Asian Federation of Biotechnology (AFOB). This time, the 10th ARS 2018 was held at the University of Dhaka, Dhaka, Bangladesh, in collaboration with AFOB from January 27-29, 2018. The 10th ARS 2018 was aimed to highlight and share the recent research findings on bioscience and biotechnology among the researchers from various countries under AFOB’s partnership. The theme of the 10th ARS was “Innovations in Biotechnology for Economic Development”. Dr. Suvamoy Datta, Head, and Department of Microbiology attended the 10th ARS 2018 held at the University of Dhaka, Dhaka, Bangladesh along with his research group. Mr. Maruf Abony, Department of Microbiology, Primeasia University, presenting his research on ‘’Isolation and Identification of Antibiotic Producing Microorganisms from Actinomycetaceae family from soil samples ‘’ at the 10th ARS 2018.

31st annual conference of Bangladesh Society of Microbiologists (BSM) was held on 10th March 2018. Thousands of Microbiologists all around Bangladesh are member of such a prestigious society, who are involved in various Industries, Universities, Governmental institutes and Medical sectors. Theme of this year’s conference was Challenges and Innovation in Controlling Microbiological Hazzards. Around 96 Submitted abstracts, 6 of Department of Microbiology, Primeasia University were accepted. 4 out of six were in Medical, industrial and remaining two were in Environmental and agriculture Microbiology. A team consisting of Mr. Maruf Abony, Mr. Avijit Banik, Mr. Md. Suprio Sadat Sikdar, Mr. Asikuzzaman, Mahmuda Akhter Akhi & Mr. Showmitro Nondi attended the program.
